Experimenting With String
I began with the simple clothing snap, and came to the idea that, although small and hidden, they are a vital piece of clothing that hold the garment together. A related object that has the same purpose as the snap, is the thread. No matter how long, short, or pigmented a string may be, it is important that it does its job in the design structure. Each string has a beginning and an end, and wherever it ends up is exactly where it's meant to be, the same way our destinies carry us through life. Similar to the different attractions that night and day bring us, in the light and dark this piece highlights what makes it beautiful.

The colours I chose represent physical aspects of the earth. Green for land, blue for water, pink for love, red for strength, and yellow for warmth and sunlight.

In the daylight, the design textures are highlighted and the strings can be interpreted by their colours, representing the happiness, harmony, and beauty this world has to offer. In the dark with a light behind the clear yellow sheet, a warm projection of the textures in between the strings are highlighted. This allows the viewer to see the design as a whole and appreciate the negative space patterns. Similar to how the moon and stars appear in the sky.
